Missouri is located in the American Midwest and it is known as the "Show Me State". The state's unofficial motto of "Show Me," can be credited to Congressman Willard Vandiver who in an 1899 speech stated "I come from a country that raises corn and cotton, cockleburs and Democrats, and frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I'm from Missouri, and you have got to show me."
Missouri's only national park consists of the Current, Jack's Fork, and Eleven Point Rivers. Canoeing or floating down the rivers is a popular pastime and many caves can be explored along the way. The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City is a premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination. More than 150 shops and dozens of fine restaurants stretch the plaza across an entire 15-block district. Kansas City also offers quality history, art, and nature Museums.
